In the Mediterranean sea coast there is a very rich fauna and diverse.There are surface, medium and deep water fishes.And among the fish that live in the depths of the coast, the Mediterranean rock fish stand out.

Hidden in the cracks
Among the cracks, cracks and cavities that proliferate in the submerged rocks of the seabed, there are two meandering and powerful fish on the constant stalking of the dams that pass in front of their sharp jaws.

- Pajel- Pagellus erythrimus -Beautiful fish that looks like pink silver.

Rock fish
There are fish that resemble the rocks where they live , chasing lurking camouflaged with their appearance and their static position.Then we show you the most common ones.
- Scorpora- Scorpaena nonata-. This fish is camouflaged from rock
- Scorpionfish- Scorpaena scrofa -Like the scorpion, the scorpionfish rock and seaweed camouflage.
- Scratch Scorpaena porcus -.In the same way that its congeneres its perfect camouflage allows it to catch the prey that passes by its side.

The inhabitants of the deep rocks
In the deep rocks and apart from the coast live several species of fish.These species have greater size than the rocky fishes of coastal reef.We will show you the main ones.
- Mero- Epinephelus marginatus -The grouper is the king of the deep rocky areas.There are specimens that exceed 40 Kg.These large fish They have extraordinary and colorful liveries.
- Golden grouper- Epinephelus costae -.This grouper is somewhat smaller and looks more sparse.
- Rock bud- Phycis phycis -.Pez very common that populates the deep rocks.Its size is medium (25-30 cm.).
Sand fish between rocks
There are many species of fish that live in the sandy areas between the rock masses .Many of these fish are buried in the sand to catch the fish that circulate from one to another rock.The spider, the rat, the rocky sole, the common stingray, or the turbot are some of the species, among many others, that feed in the vicinity of the submerged rocks.But of these interesting species we will talk in another article.
